HANOI, March 27, 2019 – In response to the National Action Month on Gender Equality (GE) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention and Control (from 15 November - 15 December), a competition on Branding design for the National Action Month on GE and GBV" was launched today in Ha Noi by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

The competition calls for creative ideas in designing a communications package for the National Action Month on GE and GBV and other related events. The competition also aims to raise awareness among community people on gender equality and gender-based violence prevention towards an equal and violence-free environment. By organising the competition, both MOLISA and UNFPA call for more joint efforts and greater commitment of related agencies and organizations in the implementation of the National Action Month on GE and GBV under the coordination of MOLISA, as well as having one communications package for the National Action Month and other related activities.

Speaking at the launching event, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), Standing Vice Chairperson of the National Committee for the Advancement of Women in Vietnam expressed that: “We hope that, after the competition, there will be a professional, comprehensive and creative communications package for the National Action Month and other gender equality related activities and materials throughout the country.”

Ms. Astrid Bant, UNFPA Representative emphasized: “We welcome creative and innovative ideas in designing communication products that will be used nationwide in the campaigns on preventing violence against women and girls in the future, towards a prosperous, sustainable and safe Vietnam for everyone, where no women have to live in fear and all women are treated equally and with respect. ”

The competition is for all Vietnamese individuals or groups aged 18 and over, including vulnerable groups, such as ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, LGBTs... The number of communication products for each participant is unlimited, but each product must include all components and formats as required. Time for submitting the products is from March 27 to May 15, 2019. The competition has only one main prize worth VND 50,000,000 and 02 consolation prizes of VND 5,000,000 to encourage creative ideas and participation from vulnerable groups. The awarding ceremony will be held on June 27, 2019.

Participants of the competition are encouraged to adopt green behaviours by reducing the amount of printing, recycling paper, plastic and glass and suggesting eco-friendly materials and products for the branding package.
