12 December 2025
The International Seminar and Exhibition held ahead of the Signing Ceremony of the Hanoi Convention convened high-level representatives from the Ministry of Public Security, UNFPA Viet Nam, UNICEF Viet Nam, UN Women, UNODC, the Government of Australia (DFAT), together with international experts from Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, and the Philippines.
🛜 Taking place immediately before the signing of the United Nations Convention on Cybercrime (the Hanoi Convention), the event was part of the project on eliminating violence against women and children in Viet Nam. It served as an important forum for Viet Nam and its partners to discuss how to translate the Convention into concrete national action, with a focus on addressing intersecting digital risks, including Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (OCSEA) and Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV).
🖥️ “Digital safety is not only a technological issue; it is directly linked to human rights. The Hanoi Convention offers an important opportunity to build a more comprehensive protection system, enabling women and children to thrive in a safer digital environment.”
The event reaffirmed the shared commitment of Viet Nam, the United Nations, and development partners to strengthen multisectoral coordination and ensure that the digital era becomes a space of empowerment. 💻💜
