Organizational Setting:
UNFPA is implementing the Project “Building a support model to prevent and respond to violence against women and girls in Viet Nam” funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA Project). The Project Associate of KOICA Project is located in the UNFPA Country Office at the Green One UN House in Ha Noi, Viet Nam.  He/She works under the overall supervision of and reports directly to the KOICA Project Coordinator. The Project Associate provides support in project administration and budget management of KOICA project activities.

Summary of Key Functions:

  • Administrative and financial support for the management, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the project.
  • Support to resource mobilization.
  • Apply established systems and procedures and assist in the creation of substantive knowledge by compiling, synthesizing and analyzing information, specifically relevant to violence against women and girls.
  1. Assist the Project Coordinator in guiding routine project implementation in close collaboration with national counterparts and project personnel, and in coordinating the timely delivery of project results and reporting deadlines;
  2. Provide administrative and logistical support to the Project Coordinator in the conduct of project meetings, workshops and events and other project activities implemented by UNFPA;
  3. Support the monitoring of project performance via providing necessary information and analysis, including implementation rate against indicators/results; detect potential implementation problems and propose remedial action.
  4. Maintain an effective financial recording and reporting system and a mechanism for monitoring project budgets; regularly provide accurate, up to date financial information for management purposes.
  5. Conduct field visits, participate in review meetings and evaluation missions and prepare regular inputs to status and progress reports; carry out regular follow-up on the implementation of spot-check and audit findings.
  6. Support advocacy and resource mobilization efforts of the CO by establishing and maintaining donor and public information contacts. Assist with organizing and conducting donor meetings and public information events, including preparing relevant background material for these events.
  7. Assist in implementing the Country Office’s knowledge management strategies to capture lessons learned and best practices related to the project; share them with management for future initiatives.
  8. Work with the Gender Team on moving upstream policy advice. 
  9. Demonstrate and promote gender sensitive behavior and gender equality within UNFPA and with partners.
  10. Implement any other activities requested by the Supervisor and the Country Office’s Senior Management.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education: Completed Secondary Level Education required. First level university degree in Business or Public Administration, Economics, Finance or similar discipline desirable.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • 6 years of relevant experience in programme/project management in public or private sector.
  • Knowledge in the area of Gender will be an asset.
  • Proficiency in current office software applications and corporate IT systems.

Languages: Fluency in oral and written English and Vietnamese.
