Ha Noi, 20 August 2020 – The contest on developing creative communications products with the theme "Speak Up - Take Action" and the message: "Violence destroys love, sharing is the source of happiness" was launched today on Facebook. The contest runs from 20 August and 13 September 2020, with the aim of encouraging active participation from all Facebook users, including youngsters and media reporters and journalists in developing communications products for spreading the messages on ending violence against women and girls.

The entries should clearly reflect the contest’s theme and messages through various aspects such as:

(1) Ways to identify GBV against women and girls and the consequences/ impacts of GBV on individuals and entire society

(2) Suggesting the solutions and approaches to address or respond to GBV against women and girls.

(3) Sharing and spreading stories and lessons-learnt from the GBV survivors, to encourage “breaking through the silence”, speaking out to end GBV, seeking help, support, and safety plan through social services by GBV victims.

(4) Positive behaviors, methods as alternatives to violence or violent act and to bring a safe and happy life for women, children, and for the perpetrators themselves.

Eligible entries for the contest include: (1) Emoji/Emoticon that could be shared through social networks and digital space, (2) photographs/pictures (photoed, designed or reconstructed) or short comics (max 15 frame per entry), (3) video clips that could be posted on Facebook or other mobile applications, with the theme and messages of GBV prevention and response. Any individual or organization with ideas, experiences, or stories related to the topic of the contest can submit entries. The total prize of the contest is up to 60 million VND.

Timeline of the contest:

  • Entries submission: from 00:00, 20 August 2020 to 23:59, 13 September 2020
  • Selection and grading: from 14 September 2020 to 18 September 2020
  • Announcement and award ceremony: 10:00, 23 September 2020

Gender sensitivity (respect to women and girls’ rights), content, effectiveness, communication impact and creativity are criteria to access the winners.

The contest is organized by the Center for Research and Applied Science on Gender - Family - Women and Adolescents (CSAGA), in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), the Anh Duong house in Quang Ninh province with media support by Vietnam Women's Newspaper.
