Under the project "Mitigating the impacts of Covid-19 on vulnerable populations" funded by the Government of Japan for the period April 2021 – June 2022, UNFPA collaborated with the Social Affairs Department, Viet Nam Farmer’s Union (VFU) to establish the hotline (18001768) for supporting women and girls subjected to violence. On 18 October 2021, VFU issued the Decision No 4462-QD/HNDTW on the establishment of the hotline for counselling and support for women subjected to violence.

In order to strengthen the quality of support services for Gender Based Violence (GBV) survivors, from April 12 to 16, 2022, UNFPA and VFU organized four training courses on receiving, supporting, and referring GBV survivors for over 200 leaders and members of the Farmer's Union and Police at the city and district level in Cu Chi, Hoc Mon, Can Gio, Thu Duc, Nha Be, Binh Chanh, and Binh Tan districts of Ho Chi Minh city.

Following each two-day training, all participants were equipped with information of gender and GBV, as well as practiced how to receive, support, and refer GBV survivors in the community, with technical assistance from UNFPA and VFU experts. This was also an excellent opportunity for the Farmer's Union and the Police in Ho Chi Minh City to develop a support network.
