Proposal on Policy recommendations for the amendment to the Gender Equality Law regarding Gender-based violence and harmful practices

Since late 2021, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) has initiated the amendment of the Law on Gender Equality (GE Law) with an expectation of the National Assembly’s endorsement by 2025. The prevention and response to Gender-based violence (GBV) and harmful practices are strongly suggested to be improved in the revised Law, based on significant findings and suggestions of the relevant independent studies. This proposal is developed to identify policy options and provide policy recommendations on the amendment of the GE Law regarding GBV and harmful practices, ensuring the alignment with good practices and international human rights standards.
