Across the nation, the birth registration rate is 98.8%, yet there are challenges with the death registration - the number of death registration cases remains low. Many families register deaths too late, or in many cases, don’t apply for a death certificate at all. UNFPA Vietnam, in partnership with Vital Strategies under the framework of Bloomberg Philanthropies' Data for Health Initiative, aims to support Viet Nam in improving its civil registration and vital statistics (#CRVS) system at both national and local levels. Multiple comprehensive initiatives are already underway to address the remaining issues, especially death registration.
